Professional Wine Tasting!
If you’re a wine lover or even just a casual wine drinker, a private in-home wine tasting is a fun and inexpensive way to entertain your friends and family. Spend a casual afternoon or evening learning about wine.
Chef Shelley is an independent wine consultant for Wineshop At Home, representing a boutique winery and producer of exclusive, handcrafted artisan wines which is headquartered in California's famed Napa Valley.
Chef Shelley will be your personal wine guide, sharing interesting information and tidbits, such as the proper way to hold a wine glass, proper temperature to serve wine, proper way to taste wine (the 5 “S’s”), and food pairing.
The main goal of wine tasting is to assess a wine’s quality-this is done by analyzing the color, aroma and flavor of the wine – a technique called the “5 ‘S’s”. Chef Shelley will discuss the 5 ‘S’s, introduce each wine with tasting notes provided on the varietals and region.
How it Works
For a cost of $29.95 (+ tax & shipping) to the host, Chef Shelley will customize the sample set of 5 bottles of wine (reds, whites, or mixture) for the tasting and even bring the professional tasting glasses for you and your guests to use.
For a more elegant event, you can pair various foods with the wines; for a simpler event, you can serve cheese and crackers. Either way, you will experience how the right wine can complement food and make your future dining and wine drinking experiences so much more enjoyable.
After the tasting, your guests will have the opportunity to purchase wines they enjoyed and/or gifts. Chef Shelley will donate 10% of her personal proceeds from purchases from the tasting to a charity of the host’s choice.**

Health benefits of drinking wine
There are health benefits from moderate wine consumption of one to two 4-ounce glasses a day, as defined by the American Heart Association. Red wine, in particular, has a substance called “resveratrol” and antioxidants called polyphenols which increases levels of “good” cholesterol and reduces artery damage in the heart.
